Selected SIs/Jemadars demand appointment orders

IMPHAL, March 24: The Association of Sub Inspectors/Jemadar Selected Candidates, 2010 batch has set a seven days dateline to the government to issue their appointment order without fail and has threatened to come up with various form of agitations if the government fails to meet its demands.

It was stated to the media by the association’s president Th Sanjeeb at a press conference in Manipur Press Club.

He further said that the Direct Post Creation for the post of Sub Inspector and Jemadar was conducted in 2010 in which 344 candidates were selected and the result was announced on August 6 last year but till date the appointment order has not been issued.

In this regard, the members of the association met with the Home Minister and Principal Secretary (home) and a memorandum was also submitted to the Chief Minister, Home Minister, DGP, Principal Secretary (home), he said adding that the matter has been highlighted several times through the media.

He continued that the association has filed a case at Manipur High Court after knowing that a case has been filed against the issuing of appointment order. In this regard, the Manipur High Court has ordered that the “Pendency of this writ application shall not be a ground to stall the process of appointment- by Chief Justice (acting) LK Mohapatra on February 28, 2014”

Later on March 10, Justice N Kotiswar Singh passed a judgement that “Pendency of the writ petition shall not be a bar for the authorities to take necessary steps for appointment of the petitioners in accordance with law,” he asserted.

However, the government has been delaying in issuing the appointment which raised questions to the minds of the selected candidates whether there is a hidden agenda of the government.

He further said that the association acknowledged that even though there is a code of conduct, the appointment order may be issued and the norms of Election Commission of India said that if there is a directive by a court, appointments can be issued under compassionate ground.

He continued that the selected candidates and their family members faced various problems but the government remained silent about the issue without considering the problems they had to face and added that if the government keeps on neglecting than their familly members will cease to vote them to power again.
