State emerging as a leader in education, says deputy CM

IMPHAL, March 1: The first state level mathematics and science competition, organised by the social development organisation, was held on Saturday at Konthoujam Kangjeibung Community Hall.

Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam was in attendance as the chief guest while Lok Sabha MP Dr. T Meinya Singh presided over the event. Social worker K Ranjit, PCC member Konthoujam assembly Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh, convenor of MPCC’s OBC dept N Nilakumar singh, Yurembam Zilla Parishad member Chanam (O) Bijenti and Konthoujam Gram Panchayat Pradhan Chingdinlui Kamei were invited as the guest of honours.

“Education caters to people and teacher should have updated knowledge. If a student acquires knowledge then he will become a good teacher. Education cannot be completed in discussions held for a month or two but needs an indefinite time,” the deputy CM said.

Urging students to work hard to gain knowledge and attain wisdom, he said that in this age of information technology parents need to provide a good education and also infused new ideas to children.

Expressing that the state is slowly emerging as a leader in the educational field, he further said that good students are needed to be groom into good teachers in the state.
