Swami Vivekananda birth anniversary held

IMPHAL, March 23: As part of 150th birth anniversary observation of Swami Vivekananda, Writers’ Association Kakching in association with Manipuri Sahitya Pracharak Sabha, Wangjing under the funding of the Ministry of Culture, government of India under “cultural functions grant scheme” organised a second Mobile Literary, Art and Cultural Program at Progressive English School, Wangjing Lamding in Thoubal district today.

The first such program was earlier held at Kakching and the third and fourth ones will also be organised at Kakching Khunou and Moreh respectively.

Retired principal Naorem Gandhar, the president of the Manipuri Sahitya Pracharak Sabha, Wangjing Nahakpam Biren Singh and writers Th Amuba Singh Sastri, Kabya Bushan Moirangthem Rajen Singh attended the function as chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.

During the function, the gathering of the function offered floral tribute to a picture of Swami Vivekananda which was followed by lectures from Pukhrambam Nimai Singh of Kakching and Naorem Amuyaima Singh of Tekcham on the work and life of Swami Vivekananda and the artistes of ‘Ningtam Ingkhol’ Tekcham represented cultural items.

Later on, there was also a poem recital which was presided over by the secretary of the Manipuri Sahitya Pracharak Sabha, Wangjing Tonjao Meidingu. T Rameshore Meitei, L Jugeshore, Y Surchandra, Th Dharmendra, H Chaoba Devi, Th Rajnikanta, O Sunilkanta, Th Joykumar, Kabita Devi and N Budha respectively were participated in the poem recital.
