Wangoi custodial death: JAC claims body

IMPHAL, March 4: The JAC formed in connection with the custodial death of 37-year-old Thoudam Digbijoy and family members today claimed the body which had been lying at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences Morgue.

The body had been lying as an unclaimed body since February 26 evening.

The body was accepted following assurance from the State Home minister to take action against the Officer In Charge of the Wangoi Police Station.

Convenor Premjit told media persons that the minister has assured to transfer Wangoi Police Station OC and to suspend the personnel on sentry duty on the day of the incident.

He further said that the Home Minister had also assured them that a Suitable action will be taken up against all the Police Personnel and the officer In charge of the wangoi Police Station following the conduct of magisterial inquiry.

It may be mention that the 37 year old Thoudam Digbijoy son of T Nabakumar of Wangoi Makha Leikai was found dead in a suspicious manner inside the lock up of the Wangoi Police station on February 26 morning at around 8 am.
