IMPHAL, March 26: Mani Charanamei has said he will raise the issue of rescinding Armed Forces Special power Act, 1958 in Parliament as an Independent representative from Manipur.
In a simple flag hoisting function at his residence, he said that his election campaign will start from Wednesday and he is fighting the election to bring peace to the outer Manipur constituency and Northeast India.
He further said that the Inner Line Permit system issue must be raised in Parliament which is a threat to the ethnic culture of the indigenous people of Manipur. Moreover, how much the people of Manipur may take advantage from the Look East Policy and gain in the development wave need to be looked into.
The seven assembly constituency segments of the outer constituency belong to Thoubal District and have a population of more than 2 lakhs who are waiting to exercise their extremely important fundamental right guaranteed by the Indian Constitution. He said that he will mount pressure to the delimitation commission to make two seats each for the outer and inner constituency so that people in the state can have more say in the Indian democratic system without having to wait till 2026.
The hill constituency seat needs to be increased without affecting the valley area as it can hurt the sentiments of people if areas from either the hills or valley are encroached in another constituency. The education sector, the harmony between hills and valley people and the introduction of an inter-district mini train service from the East to West, South to North dimension in the state for more convenience in import and export of products and items made from state natural resources will be given priority, he said.
People preferred his straightforward approach and sent him to Parliament because the voice of the big party voice is twisted. The pending peace talk of UG groups of the hill and valley will be started for bringing peace in the state, he added.
Many workers from Tamenglong, Churachandpur and Ukhrul attend the flag hoisting function.
