IMPHAL, April 2: Chief Minister Okram Ibobi urged the public to strengthen the party by voting its two representatives at the 16th Lok Sabha election in a one-day political conference for the Congress party on Wednesday at Sagolband Thingam Leikai community hall.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Okram Ibobi reminded that India’s democracy was due to the struggles of the Congress party.

In the last general elections, the Congress party hoped of getting party representatives from constituencies in the capital such as Uripok, Keisamthong, Thangmeiband. However, the party was able to get only a representative elected from Uripok constituency, he said.

Adding that there is a doubt of getting fewer representatives this time around due to land evictions for the widening of roads, he clarified that those are done in public interest and for their development.

The CM further stated that reservation of women is due to the handiwork of Rajiv Gandhi and the whole credit must go to him and continued that the pioneers of the party have a dream for developing the country which we must fulfill.

He also appealed the people of the state to vote for the party to send its representatives to Lok Sabha.

Deputy Chief Minster Gaikhangam stated that there are many political parties which raise their voice only when election approaches.

He condemned the Chief Minister of Nagaland for violating election code of conduct and speaking against the state, and added that his speeches were not only against the chief minister of the state but against the public.

None other than the Congress party raise voice against him for his vitriolic speeches and all the communities in the state are living together so no one can’t challenge or destruct the territorial integrity and emotional integrity of the state, he said.

He appealed the people of the state to vote for the representatives of the party.
