LAMKA, April 4: “I have sacrificed my life for the people of the Hills district,” All India Trinamool Congress, AITC candidate for the Outer Lok Sabha constituency Kim Gangte told supporters today.

Addressing an election campaign at the Synod Hall, Lamka this afternoon, the lone woman candidate in fray for the Outer seat said she had given up her post of lecturer to serve the people.

She said that her parents were always against her joining politics as she was the only bread earner of her family back then.

“Even though my friends called me bad for leaving such a lucrative post, I remained undaunted in my mission,” she said.

She expressed her gratitude that the people have solidly stood behind her; and further appealed to give her another chance.

“I was born in Churachandpur and I am glad that I have been given a platform to represent its people.”

“It is not for money that I had joined politics,” she said and added that she was unable to even file her nomination papers but her supporters helped her.

Like the party’s national president, Mamata Banerjee, she said she is a politician of all times and not a seasonal politics.
