IMPHAL, April 2: A remote controlled Improvised Explosive Device (IED) weighing around 2 kilogram was found planted along the road side at Muirei junction near a waiting shed along the Imphal Ukhrul Road today.
The IED was detected by a foot patrol party of the 16 Assam Rifles, Yangangpokpi post today around 4pm inside a plastic bag planted along the roadside some 4 meters away from the Imphal Ukhrul road under Yaigangpokpi police station.
After the bomb was found a team of Assam Rifle personnel cordoned the area and prevented vehicular traffic along the road and informed the police about the presence of bomb
Later police along with a state bomb expert team arrived and check the IED and found TNT sled bomb inside a Tiffin carrier along with splinters. The bomb was safely disposed by the state bomb expert team in the nearby paddy field
