IMPHAl, April 19: An activist of the KCP (Lamphel) was arrested by a combined team of cdo District police and 2 Assam Rifles during a search operation at Khangabok Part III Makha Leikai, Thoubal yesterday, informed a statement of the PRO, Manipur police.
The arrested person has been identified as Moirangthem Shyamkishwor Singh, 46, son of M Achou Singh of Khangabok Part-III Makha Leikai.
One hand grenade with detonator which was used for monetary demand was recovered from the pond of Elangbam Dinesh alias Abung Singh, 27, son of E Chourjit Singh of Lamding Elangbam Leikai at his disclosure, it said.
A case has been registered at Thoubal Police Station and investigation is going on said the PRO, Police Department, Manipur.
Meanwhile, the PRO IGAR (s) has said in a press release that troops of 18 SIKH of 9 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (SOUTH) launched an operation in general area of Tabungkhok and apprehended one PREPAK (VC) cadre today.
The statement identified the arrested man as s/s cpl Sagolbam Nanao alias Yai, 33, son of Maimu Singh of Langhthel, Thoubal district.
A 9mm CMG with four live rounds and a mobile phone were recovered from his possession and were handed over to the Patsoi Police Station, it said.
