IMPHAL, April 7: Sub divisional collector, Lilong Sanasam Gojendro today alleged that he was beaten up by four members of the Lilong Municipal Council around 2pm inside his own office chamber.
He was addressing media persons at the Manipur Press Club flanked by the chairperson of the Lilong Municipal Council this late evening.
The 51 year old officer from Singjamei Okram Leikai who is also the executive officer of the council said that he was sitting inside his office chamber this afternoon when around four ward members of the council led by Ward no 6 Ward member Md Hipsur Rahaman, 45 son of (L) Chaoba of Lilong Turel Ahanbi came into his office and handed over a letter addressed to the EO, Lilong Municipal Council, at which he asked them to leave the letter at his reception.
He said the members left and came back after sometime asking him to collect the letter, at which he reiterated to leave it with the reception.
Md Hipsur Rahaman picked up a plastic chair and hit him on his head, the SDC alleged.
Soon after he was taken to the Lilong Primary health centre from where he was referred to RIMS for treatment and after giving treatment in the hospital he has been discharge from the hospital, he said.
He also said that they have filed a complaint to the concern police station regarding the incident.
Speaking to the media persons Tharo Begum chairperson of Lilong Municipal Council lamented the incident as ‘unfortunate’ and further strongly condemned the act of some ward members led by Md Hipsur Rahaman ward member of Lilong Municipal council ward number 6.
She demanded appropriate action against all accused for assaulting the SDC.
