IMPHAL, April 1: A Manipuri man posted as a security personal in Guwahati was hacked to death by one of his colleague last Sunday around 8.30 pm.

Our sources from Guwahati told IFP that the deceased, Moirangtham Krishnajit Singh, 29, son of M Manao of Thentha Khunou Wangjing, was working as a security guard with Simplex Company Private Limited in Lokhacharali under Borchak Police Station at Guwahati.

The person who allegedly killed him to death by hacking him on his neck and head has been identified as Ren Singh Emghi, 32, son of Chandra Singh Emghi from Timurnigao in Assam’s Karbi Anglong District.

The deceased and the assailant were on duty at the gate of the company last Sunday when the latter reportedly started to eve-tease. An argument arose between the two when the former asked the latter to stop eve-teasing. The assailant hacked the deceased on his head before slashing the latter’s neck after dinner and when everyone has gone to bed. The brutal assault resulted in the death of the deceased even before any medical help, the sources added.

A homicide case has been registered at the Borchak Police Station against the assailant. He was arrested from the crime spot and produced in court. The court remanded him under police custody for ten days.

Meanwhile, the family of Krishnajit who reached the place where the incident occurred, on Tuesday evening collected his dead body from the morgue of the  Guwahati Medical College.
