MPSCC exam postponed for a day

IMPHAL, April 22: The MPSCC Examination, 2014 has been postponed by a day, as pressure from student bodies and others countinue to mount against the conduct of the exam on Khongjom Day as slated by the government.

The Education School Department and the Higher Education Department have in separate press releases said that for the smooth conduct of the MPSCC examination which will be held on April 24, the Governor has declared the day a holiday for the selected schools and colleges which will act as centres for the exam.

All teaching and non-teaching staff of the selected schools and colleges who have been assigned duty for the said examination shall perform their duties properly and shall not avail holiday on the day, said the departments.

Meanwhile, the All Manipur Students’ Union had earlier today locked down the centres of the MPSCC Examination decrying that the examination is being held on Khongjom Day.

The Joint Students’ Coordination Committee had called a press conference at the AMSU office decrying the proposed conduct of the examination on Khongjom Day, April 23.

JSCC member Thiyam Naresh said the student bodies have been appealing against the conduct of the examination on the said day.

However, it is unfortunate that the authorities concerned has decided to hold the exam on the day which has been marked as a day to remember the martyrs of the state and their sacrifices, he continued.
