Musical concert in September to promote greener world

IMPHAL, April 3: With the aim of preserving the environment and stop the cutting down of trees, well-known singer Uttam will stage a musical concert “Uttam Unplugged for a greener world tomorrow” on September 18 at Maharaj Chandrakriti Auditorium that will also feature The Vinyl Records and The Koi.

Briefing the media at the Manipur Press Club, the popular singer said that organising the event will give awareness to school children and sensitise them about the importance of trees.

He said that it is a part of the campaign which was started last year by ‘Voluntary Organization for Improvement of Community and Environment’ (VOICE), an NGO under the theme “preserve and protect”, and added that as a part of the campaign which started last year it will be organising painting, quiz, drama, music and dance competitions.

He said that it focused mostly on imparting the values of trees in young minds. The awareness is being given by artists so the awareness must be expressed in artistic forms, before adding that the campaign started from Sugnu Laiten Ching where many saplings were planted.
