State PHED concern only with buying pipes: L Ibomcha
IMPHAL, April 6: The National Congress Party has released its election manifesto for the 16th Lok Sabha elections.
In a simple function while releasing the manifesto, NCP state president Laisom Ibomcha said that the state is facing extreme water scarcity with some people even using mineral water in the toilet in Imphal.
“The failure of PHED is the root cause of the problem. The department is interested in buying more pipes when there is no water to supply instead of trying to collect more water or sourcing water.”
Mentioning that some agenda in the manifesto were made state specific after the approval from the central NCP leaders, he said that the party vows to solve the problem of insurgency in the North-eastern state by ending regional imbalances which continues in the NE states and the alienation of youth from the national mainstream.
“There will be separate land laws for the hill areas of Manipur which is long overdue in the interest of the people of Manipur. The hills people don’t have permanent land ownerships and are compelled to give rent for their own hill every year. If the policy is implemented in the hills, people will stay stable in one place and peace and harmony among will be maintained.”
“NCP will not strive for any “special status” for any tribes in Manipur and ILP based on the Sikkim pattern will be implemented. Power supply will be improved to remove the shortage of acute power in the state,” he said.
The National secretary and spokesperson of NCP Narendra Varma said that all the 24 issues of Manipur will be acted upon by the centre.
“Though NCP is a small political party it exists in various part of the country now. Right from inception, NE states have stood for NCP. NCP has four MLAs in Nagaland, one each in Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh and two MLAs in Meghalaya. In Manipur, NCP is entering senior and seasoned politician Chungkhokai Doungel in the fray for the outer Manipur Parliamentary seat.”
He said that the MPs from Manipur haven’t raised any issues of the state in the parliament and are neglecting even small issues. In the last few days in Manipur, NCP got good response from Kuki and Naga peoples in the election campaign.
He said that NCP are contesting 38 candidates in all over India in the LS poll. NE candidates are given more emphasis by the NCP.
Nagaland MLA and central observer of NCP Kikon said that NCP will play a vital role in the formation of central government because there will be no absolute majority to both NDA and UPA government. So, there will be a hung government in centre during that time NCP will become a deciding factor in forming the government.
