New twist in Elizabeth murder case: Relative`s involvement pointed at

IMPHAL, April 17: The co-accused in the Lungnila Elizabeth murder case who was arrested by a Special team of CBI yesterday was produced before the duty magistrate Imphal west today.

The accused is identified as L Suresh alias Biren alias Nabakeshor, 45 years, son of Late Thambalngou of Pukhao Naharup at present staying at Nongmaikhong, was remanded to five days custody with the CBI till 21 April. He will be produced before the CJM Imphal west on 21 April.

L Suresh alias Biren was arrested by a Special team of CBI from Sangaiprou area yesterday evening.

As per the report submitted by CBI while pleading for remand before the court, it is mentioned that Laishram Biren Singh was an activist of the KCP militant.

It said that as per confession of the accused Nando Singh, the victim was fetched by Nando himself, Suresh alias Biren, Raju, Arnold, James Kuki Rome and some others (whose name could not be recalled on that point of time) and one aunty of the victim (who is also unidentified).

After the kidnapping, the victim was taken to Churachandpur on a Maruti van where the victim was confined in a house in Kangei village by them.

Later the victim was shifted after two/three days in Imphal and kept in a house at Sangaiprou, there after she was killed, it revealed.

After the recovery of the dead body of the victim, Suresh along with other suspects/accused fled from the residence and had remained traceless, it said.

L Suresh is the second co-accused arrested by the CBI of the three co-accused in the kidnapping and murder of Lungnila Elizabeth.

Ningthoujam Heisnam Premi devi was the first one to be arrested by the CBI on 8 April from RIMS campus.

With the arrest of the two accused, only Ngamkhotinal Lhouvum alias Ngamphu alias King remains the only co-accused still at large.
