NPF reacts to CM`s Heirok speech

IMPHAL, April 8: Reacting to the reported statement of chief minister O Ibobi Singh made during an election campaign at Heirok Part II Mayai Leikai Ground on April 6, 2014 which said “ … there is no forbidding anyone willing to leave the land and go anywhere in the world, however, they cannot take the land along with them” the NPF has said that it fails to understand as to which group of people, the CM is suggesting.

A statement of the party has said, “We wonder if such reckless statement by none other than the CM of Manipur has nothing to do with the Election Model Code of Conduct. CM Ibobi Singh`s statement “However, a democracy has no place for violence” has little taker…”

“It is very unfortunate that Congress leaders led by the CM have sowed the seed of disharmony between the people of valley and hills while canvassing for Thangso Baite in seven segments of Thoubal district at Heirok.

“NPF is a party for all the people not only in Manipur but also for all the people of the North East India.

Moreover, Ibobi Singh`s assertion of a democracy having no place for violence is fraught with trying to act holier than thou behaviour if the 29t11 March Ukhrul Superintendent of Police`s escort brutality, mishandling and obstruction from performing their duties on the journalists covering the students` peace rally in Ukhrul is any indication, it said.

The statement continued that it is also unfortunate to learn that T Manga Vaiphei, general secretary of MPPC has demanded more security personnel for Ukhrul and Senapati districts when the concern of Human rights violations by the Security Forces have led many candidates to include in their Manifestos repealing of Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958 from across North East States and Jammu and Kashmir.

NPF does not need more security personnel like IRBs apart from CRPF as demanded by T. Manga Vaiphei only in Naga areas, which is a clear indication of being very communal, it said.

We are sorry to inform Luizinho Faleiro, AICC General Secretary North East Incharge that before NPF-Ied DAN government was in power in Nagaland, Congress party was ruling in Nagaland.
