Re-poll likely in five polling stations: CEO

IMPHAL, April 10: The exact figure of voter turned out of the just concluded II-outer constituency Parliamentary election could not be ascertained as bad weather has hampered extraction process of EVMs, however the poll percentage is currently standing at 82 percent.

However, re-poll is likely to be conducted in five polling stations, said O Nabakishore Chief Electoral Officer Manipur interacting with media persons today.

Informing that EVMs from Tamenglong,  Senapati and Chandel are yet to arrive at the concerned ROs, the CEO stated adding that the exact figure could be ascertained only after the arrival of all the EVMs.

Of the five polling stations where repoll is likely, two polling stations are located at Chandel district wherein EVMs were reported to be damaged and voting percentage had exceeded the total voters number.

Two other polling stations are situated in Senapati district and one in Ukhrul district, said the CEO. Even as choppers were pressed into service the extraction process of EVMs from the interior parts of the hill districts could not be carried out due to bad weather condition and other remaining EVMs will be brought by road, the CEO added.

He continued that one MI-17 has returned out of four choppers which included two MI-17 and two Chattak, and the remaining will be back tomorrow adding that the three choppers are standing by for any emergencies.

The CEO revealed that till now the poll percentage of Thoubal is recorded 78.94%, 61%, in Ukhrul, 80.16% in CCpur, 87% in Tamenglong, 93% in Chandel, 61.16%. in Jiribam.
