Re-poll recommended for 31/1 Moijing (A) PS

IMPHAL, April 18: Following recommendation from the CEO, Thoubal T Ranjit, the chief electoral officer is likely to announced repoll at 31/1 Moijing (A) polling station of Thoubal Assembly Constituency, informed a source.

Sources informed that repoll at the polling station is likely to fall on April 22, if the Election Commission of India approves of it.

The CEO Manipur has prepared a written proposal to be sent to the Election Commission of India recommending the conduct of re-poll in that particular polling station.

Meanwhile, a DC Thoubal notice has suspended presiding officer of the said polling station E Khogen Singh an Arts Graduate Teacher of Wabagai High School, Education Department.

The order reflected that E Khogen Singh who was the presiding officer had allowed vote casting of 773 voters during the Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency poll although there were only 771 voters on the electoral roll.

On the other hand, CEO, Oinam nabakishore has said during an interaction with the media at his office that he will send a written proposal to the ECI in this regards soon.

He said if the proposal is approved than it is likely that the repoll will be conducted on April 22, 2014.

The ECI team is in Gujarat at the moment and will return from there on Saturday, he said and added that since April 21 is their working day, repoll may be conducted on April 22, if approved by the ECI.

The CEO also informed that the overall poll percentage of the Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency is 75.19 percent .

A total of 641441 including 334455 female voters exercised their franchise, he said.

It may be mentioned that the CEO had also asked for eight more election observers for the state for May 17 vote counting as there will be 12 counting centres.

Imphal East will be having two counting centres as was reported earlier.

He had cited that there are four election observers in the state and with eight more each counting centre will get their own observers.
