Rift rocks AAP state unit

IMPHAL, April 4: Amidst the hectic election campaign in the run up to the Lok Sabha poll in the state, a possible rift has appeared within Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Manipur.

The confusion emerged following a manifesto was made available by the Parliament Election Manifesto Committee of AAP Manipur, city office Hindu Hotel Complex, Nagamapal while another manifesto under the AAP, Manipur, Konung Mamang Office under the initiative of Manipur Campaign Committee AAP Manipur is due to be released tomorrow at the Manipur Press Club.

Talking to IFP, Manihar Singh Thoudam, of the Manifesto Committee, justified that they are the approved executive of AAP Manipur while contending that the Campaign Committee was a committee only approved this year.

He opined that the Campaign Committee must consult them (executive body) before arriving to any decision.

On the other hand, the Campaign committee’s convenor, Hareshwar Goshwami, in a statement claimed that the National Executive Committee (NE) of the AAP had recently nominated a National Campaign Committee consisting of Yogendra Yadav, Pankaj Gupta and Sanjay Singh to oversee the party’s nation wide campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

It said that the National Executive Committee, after due consultation and deliberation, had appointed 8 members for the Manipur Campaign Committee which included himself (Hareshwar Goswami) as the convenor followed by Th Manihar Singh, Th. Jugindro Singh, Roshni Kumar Yambem, LS Haokip, K Ningshemjao, Samom Beerjurekha Devi and MP Singh.

Meanwhile, as per the manifesto of the Parliament Election Manifesto Committee, there are 13 executive members reportedly appointed in a meeting held on March 24 last at Imphal Hotel in the presence of Habung Payeng, National Executive Member and National Observer and North-East in-charge of AAP New Delhi.

Remarkably, Hareshwar Goswami was not included in the 13 executives.
