IMPHAL, April 4: The development of Manipur could not be possible without developing the remote areas of the state, for this the government of Manipur is working tirelessly towards this end by commissioning various projects.

The statement was uttered by the Chief Minister of Manipur Okram Ibobi Singh in a public meeting held at the Moirang Palli Play Ground organised by Khangabok Block Congress Committee in connection with the election campaign of Congress candidate of the No II-Outer Parliamentary Constituency, Thangso Baite.

During the election campaign, CM Ibobi said that India is a country in which everybody can follow any religion and further added that political parties based on a particular religion and group are trying to disintegrate the nation and Manipur. He further expressed that the country will be at risk if people are voting in favour of the said parties.

Clarifying the charges made by these parties, he cited the development program of government at Tamei, Tousem, Khengjoi, New Somtal, Timaipaimuk, Jeshami respectively and further claimed that his government has given priorities in the hill and remote areas. He also said that there is Muslim quota for employment following which there are many Muslim officers in the state. Despite this, the member parliament for upper house is from the Muslim Community.

The Chief Minister further sought cooperation for the development of the state and added that any issues including that of insurgency could be solved peacefully by sitting together and added that Congress party will be stronger after the merger of five MSCP MLAs to the party.

He further said that there are 28 assembly constituencies in the Outer Parliamentary Constituency, so it is an uphill task to address all development issues and grievances of the people in the short period of five years.

During the meeting, Social Welfare minister AK Mirabai, IFCD ministers I Hemochandra, Khangabok Kendra MLA O Landhoni were also delivering election related speech. They discussed the political trend prevailing in the state and India. Around fifteen thousand people were participated in the election campaign meeting.
