Storm blows off roof at Bongmol Village

KANGPOKPI, April 27: In one of the most horrific and unfortunate natural calamities, a Pharmacy cum residential house at Bongmol village was damaged by a strong wind yesterday night damaging properties worth more than Rs 3.60 lakh.

Bongmol village is situated along the National Highway 2 in Sadar Hills Senapati District under Kangpokpi Police Station.

The house belongs to one Hegin Khongsai, an auto driver by profession and agent of local daily EIMITIMES in Bongmol area.

Talking to news men, this morning Hegin narrated that around 10.30pm yesterday during the cyclonic storm, the roof of my house was blown off.

And with the roof gone, the medicines worth more than Rs 3 lakh kept inside the room were damaged, he said.

Other household properties worth around Rs 50-60 thousand were also damaged, he said before adding that his family couldn’t sleep the whole night.

He said, he had recently renovated his residence, and now it has been totally damaged.

Only Hegin’s rooftop was flown off by the strong wind in yesterday’s unfortunate incident in the locality.

While all the CGI sheets of the roof were found scattered around the house this morning, some part of the roof were also blown around 120 metre away from the house.

Hegin Khongsai lives with his wife and their main source of income is from the Pharmacy and his meagre earning through the service of his three-wheeler.

While appealing the concerned authority and the government for compensation, Hegin Khongsai registered FIR at Kangpokpi Police Station today evening.

In the meantime, resident of Keithelmanbi, Lamjang, Gopibung and other village near Bongmol also reported a strong wind blowing around the village but there is no report of any damaged.
