UKHRUL, April 2: Forum for Change, an initiative of Tangkhul youth organised a candle light vigil here at the Tangkhul Naga Long ground on Wednesday to ring out the message of clean and fair practices in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections. A first of its kind in the district, the observance emphasised the need for safeguarding the right of every voter of the land, in view of the forthcoming polls.

Ngaranchui A Chihui, representative of FFC, said that the purpose of the program was to bring the people together to collectively rise up against unfair practices during election times.

“It is such times when people easily fall prey to money power and sell out their rights for a few bucks, without realising the harm of the practice.”

Calling upon all to promote fair practices in the ensuing LS polls, AS Ngathingshang, principal, Blesso School, Ukhrul said that time has come for us to choose a genuine leader and vote for the person so that there might be a progressive change for all.

The program which commenced from 5 pm today was participated by around 2000 people including church leaders, civil society organizations, student bodies and youth of the district.
