Will open university at CCpur if voted to power: JD(U)

LAMKA, April 4: The JD(U) today kicked off its campaign for the Outer Lok Sabha seat at Tuibung Bazar, Churachandpur.

The party’s state president N Tombi Singh also hoisted the party flag and released its election manifesto during the occasion.

If elected to power, the JD(U) will fight for the establishment of a university at Churachandpur which will be for the people of the hills at large, he said.

Party candidate for the Outer seat, Lamminlien alias Lien Gangte said that the party will not make lots of promises, but will be committed in fulfilling the limited promises including protection of people’s rights, bringing peace and development, creation of Parliamentary seat for Thoubal.

He said he is contesting the election as the hills need ‘change’.

People have no moral values and respect for others today, he lamented.

The Congress has failed successively for three terms in the state and two terms at the centre, he said.

“We suffer because of the Congress and they are a threat to the state as well as the nation,” he asserted.

Scam after scam they hold their grounds by corrupting the people, he said.

If elected he said he will ensure that the tribal sub plan is made functional and the Hill Area Committee which has been reduced toothless.

The Indo-Myanmar fencing and AFSPA also feature prominently in his to do list, he said.

The Manipur Land and Revenue Act also needs serious concern, he said.
