Congress committed unfair means across 112 polling stations in Manipur: Dr Nara

IMPHAL, May 9: The Left and Secular Alliance Manipur while claiming to have acquired substantial proof with regards to mass irregularities committed by the Congress party during the recently concluded MP election of the inner Manipur Parliamentary constituency, demanded re-poll or to held up the counting of votes.

A press conference was convened in connection with the alleged irregularities at the Irawat Bhawan this afternoon, where Dr Nara, the common candidate of the alliance, informed that a written petition has been faxed to the Election Commission of India and CEO Manipur.

Dwelling into the development, Dr Nara revealed that in addition to the complaint earlier lodged to the ECI, the alliance also constituted a fact finding committee post poll to substantiate their claim.

During the process the committee have cross checked all witnesses and acquired substantial proof of the gross violation of poll conduct committed by the Congress, asserted Dr M Nara.

Of the total 32 assembly constituencies, the committee have found out that mass proxy voting, booth capturing and other unfair means was conducted in 21 constituencies across112 polling stations, continued Dr Nara.

It may be mentioned that the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Manipur, Returning Officers and election observers have submitted their written explanations to the Election Commission of India with regards to the complaint.

The conference was also attended by Shanta of CPM, Manihar Goswami of JD-S, Samungou of Shiv Sena.
