Emancipation Day observed at Moirang

BISHNUPUR, May 28: The All Manipur Students’ Union Bishnupur district has today observed the 25th Emancipation Day 2014 at Moirang Multipurpose Higher Secondary School in a solemn function on the same day as the closing day of its five-day Students Leadership Camp.

Th Naresh Singh president AMSU H/Q attended as chief guest while S Open Singh president AMSU Bishnupur district committee presided over the function and S Kumar Singh principal of the school, N Bimola Devi general secretary Women and Child Affairs, Sumati Oinam president ANUL Bishnupur district as guests of honour respectively.

As part of the function, floral tributes were offered to pictures of the three students H Ibohal, K Sarat and U Khellen who had sacrificed their lives during different student agitations in 1973 and 1979.

During the observance, S Kumar Singh expressed that there is lot of infrastructure requirements in the government schools including teachers, desk, bench and many others.

He also mentioned that the students of the school are always in a tendency to call strike demanding the lacking infrastructure.

Principal Kumar further said that education is a time bound affair and everything need to be done while there is still time.

He also advised the students to acquire enough knowledge.

AMSU president Naresh spoke on the rights and duties of the students and further made a general appeal to the gathering students to devote more time in their studies while participating in the struggle for students’ movement for betterment of the society as whole and the student community in particular.

Altogether 250 students participated in the said observance.
