IMPHAL, May 29: A team of Imphal East District Police Commandos arrested an active member of KCP (Lamyanba Khuman) identified as Laishram Brojen Singh, son of L Shatpa Singh of Khangabok Part-II from Khurai Lamlong Bazar, Imphal East, said it in a press release from Police PRO S Gautam Singh.
The release further conveyed that one mobile phone handset along with SIM card was seized from his possession. On follow up investigation, four other associates, namely, (i) Ningthoujam Kamal Singh,19, son of (L) N Tolangou of Leimaram Mayai Leikai (ii) Samjetsabam Premjit Singh, 28, son of Sh Gouro Singh of Leimararn Awang Leikai (iii) Longjam Sanayaima Meetei, 30, son of L Budhi Meetei of Laimararn Awang Leikai and (iv) Angom Jonson Singh, 26, son of A Beikul Singh of Leirnaram Awang Leikai were also arrested from Wahengbam Leikai and seized four mobile phone handsets with SIM cards along with one Maruti Van bearing registration No. MN05A- 4299 white in colour from them, it said.
Investigation revealed that five of them came to Imphal to deliver the contact number of their commander to hospitals, schools and colleges located at Kwakeithel area, the release conveyed and added that recently they had extorted Rupees one lakh fifty thousand each from two schools located at Imphal West.
Further investigation revealed that Ningthoujam Kamal Singh and Angom Jonson Singh had collected two Chinese hand grenades in the 1st week of May, 2014 and they had hurled one hand grenade some days back and the remaining was seized from the residence of Ningthoujam Kamal Singh, it said.
