Jiri News Network revived

JIRIBAM, May 18: The Jiri News Network (JNN), which was formed by the journalist of the Jiribam subdivision in 2004 but remained non-functional since then, was reactivated on Sunday in a simple function chaired by the senior journalist F Ahmed and accordingly a new executive body was reorganised by co-opting its membership from the journalists of the Cachar so as to make larger media coverage.

The office bearers of the Jiri News Network are as follows: Sarat Kumar Thokchom as President, GC Mishra as Vice-president, Romeo Moirangthem as General Secretary, S Herajit Singh as Asst. Secretary, Moirangthem Haritombi Singh as Treasurer and F Ahmed, A Lukhoi Singh, Md Abdus Salam Yumnam Sanjit Singh as executive members respectively.

During the function, the general secretary of the JNN Romeo Moirangthem mentioned that the news agency will act as an information dissemination house through print and electronic media by collecting news from the outside Manipuri population settled in the north east Indian states and added that news items will be given thrust to integrity and development of the state and also current affairs. He also informed the gatherings the email address of the agency – jirinewsnetwork@gmail.com so as to send the worth reporting news report to them and further appealed for suggestion for the betterment of the agency.

And lastly, Romeo announced that news will be dispatched to the respective media houses of the state from June 1, 2014 next and also sought cooperation from the media houses operating in Manipur.
