Manipur Cabinet approves highway widening

IMPHAL, May 12: The state cabinet today gave nod to several agendas including the widening of both the national highways.

Today’s cabinet meeting started from 4pm chaired by the Chief Minister, Okram Ibobi Singh and lasted till late in the evening.

According to reliable sources, the cabinet approved widening of the existing national highways to 30 metres in plane areas and 20 to 24 metres in the hills.

The proposed highways included in the provision include the road stretch from Imphal to Moreh, Imphal to Kanglatongbi, Churachandpur to Ukhrul and Imphal to Keithelmanbi.

The widening in populated area is to be 20 metres and 24 metres in freeways, infoemed the source.

Meanwhile, the cabinet also approved to enhance the Dearness Allowance of the Home Guard DA including ration allowance as entitled to a skilled labour issued by the Labour Department.

The cabinet further gave approval to regularise 135 faculty posts of the total 650 staff in JNIMS while the remaining post (non-faculty) will be filled by creating new post.

The cabinet also approved to create 125 posts for Head Master and another 125 post for Assistant Head Master in the education department. The Assistant Head Master posts are to be filled for the recently upgraded to High Schools.

As for the Education (S) the cabinet approved the creation of 13 posts of Principal in the Higher Secondary School and another 17 posts as Vice-Principal in Higher Secondary School.

Besides that the cabinet further granted to hand over the creation of web site for Land revenue department to a dynamic private company to ensure more affective and transparent on Land acquisition or rehabilitation in the state.

Moreover, the cabinet approved to reinstate Raj Mohan, as secretary-in-charge of Board of Secondary Education Manipur with effect from March 1 to 31 July of this year and amend the MPS rule 1965, rule number 2 II (B) MPS rule 1965 first amendment 2009.
