IMPHAL, May 12: The Shija Hospitals and Research Institute today observed the International Nurses Day, at its auditorium today.
As part of the observation, a workshop on skill development was also conducted organised jointly by the Shija Hospitals and Research Institute and its nursing department.
Joint director, nursing medical directorate, V Ralte attended the function as as chief guest, principal Asian Institute for Nursing Education, Assam, Dr Unmona Boragohain as the guest of honour and chairman cum managing director, SHRI, Dr Kh Palin as the president.
During the function, Dr Unmona congratulated the nurses and appreciated the institute for organising such an important workshop for the nurses.
She said that the nurses formed an important part in the healthcare sector and added that there is also a growing recognition of the sufficiently, trained and motivated health workers.
V Ralte said, nurses should pay homage and remember Florence Nightingale’s sacrifice for the love of humanity.
She further urged the nurses to develop their skills and be efficient in the technicalities which come with their work, caring for the patients, nursing communication skills, cultural competency, thinking skills and decision making.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Palin observed that there are plans to established institutes for higher education for the nurses.
He further expressed his hope that in the coming years, Guwahati and Manipur will become the healthcare hub in the Southeast Asia.
