“Men and women must take equal responsibility in all walks of life”

IMPHAL, May 19: As an initiative taken up by the government for the women society a women based committee named “Women Resource centre “ has been formed with the Chief Minister O Ibobi as chairman, Social Welfare minister Ak Mirabai as convenor and the department as the Nodal Department.

This was stated by minister Ak Mirabai during the 21st Manipur State Development Corporation (MSDC) foundation day cum distribution of sewing machines to trainees of the six month vocational training program held at the office complex of the Manipur State Development Corporation Takyel Pat today.

The foundation day cum sewing machine distribution function was also attended by Barun Mitra principal secretary Social Welfare department as the function president while H Rupachandra joint secretary Social Welfare department, L Ibobi director Social Welfare department and S Chhabra, officer on special duty Social Welfare attended as guests of honour respectively.

Addressing the function as the chief guest, Ak Mirabai assured that the government will take up various policies for the upliftment of the women society through the newly formed centre.

She further pointed out that the MSDC was formed 21 years back with the objective of providing economic empowerment to the womanfolk.

She observed that both men and women should take equal responsibility in all works of life as they have equal rights.

Mirabhai asserted that the government has also taken up a policy to provide financial assistance to rape victims and also to construct children homes in all nine districts of the state to prevent child trafficking.

As a part of function, sewing machines, embroidery machines and weaving machines were distributed to the passed out trainees of the vocational Training.
