NH2 road mishap claims woman’s life

KANGPOKPI, May 27: A fatal road accident early this morning around 4.30 left a woman dead and two others injured near Yaikongpao village, under Kangpokpi Police Station along the National Highway 2.

An iron scrap carrying ten wheel tata truck skidded off the road killing the woman passenger and leaving the driver and the handyman injured.

Although the official identity of the deceased victim could not be ascertain till the filling of this report, the driver has been identified as Md Najir, 26, son of Md Abdul Latif of Sora Karanchi under Kakching PS of Thoubal district while the handyman has been identified as Md Ajij, 22, son of Md Khamba of Md Abdul Latif of Sora Karanchi.

The handyman was admitted at the CHC, Kangpokpi, while the driver escaped with a minor injury on his forehead, police sources said.

The source also informed that the deceased woman had boarded the truck heading towards Dimapur side from the NRL Oil Pump, Mantripukhri early this morning.

The three had their meal at Sekmai and proceeded on the journey, before meeting with the unfortunate incident, the source continued.

It is also learnt that the driver had told the cops that the deceased woman had identified herself as Apikpa from Kwakta, Thingjel Leikai, Imphal before boarding the vehicle.

The woman has a whitish complexion, and a height of 4’10” with long black hair, said the source.

She was wearing white shirt, orange phanek with purple and red striped chunni, bangles on both wrist, a ring on the middle finger of her left hand and nose ring, the source added.

The deceased woman whose dead body has been deposited at JNIMS Morgue for post mortem bored bruised mark on the neck, left leg and right knee added the police source.
