Pallel drug case accused fail to show up, court issues arrest warrants

IMPHAL, May 27: The special court Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (ND&PS) today issued arrest warrants against two of the five accused in the Pallel drug haul case for violating instructions to appear before the court.

The remaining three others identified as PRO Col Ajay Chowdhury, RK Babloo, 25, son of RK Bijen of Top Khongnangkhong and Seikholen Haokip, 35 years, son of Telsing Ngamjang (TN) Haokip (former minister) of B Vengnom Tuibong all appeared before the court today.

The five were earlier granted bail.

The warrant was issued by S Ibomcha, judge of ND&PS, Thoubal, against Letminlal Letminlal Haokip alias Minlal Haokip, 25, son of (L) Kakai Haokip of New Checkon near Brighter School and Zangminthang Tuboi alias Minthang, 29, son of Dousei Tuboi of Bunglung Village.

While granting bail, the five accused were instructed by the special court to re-appear before it on May 27.

At the same time, the court also restricted the accused from leaving the state. They were released on execution of PR bond of Rs one lakh.

The accused were released on May 20 from Sajiwa Central jail following their bail plea which was accepted by the court on May 19.

With the case taken up by the CBI, the deputy superintendent of CBI, RK Bhatacharjee was also present during today’s proceedings.

The same court instructed the three accused who appeared today to re-appear on June 20
