Programme on agri-clinics concludes

IMPHAL, May 17: A two month training programme on setting up of agri-clinics and agri-business centers by graduates/ diploma in agriculture and allied subjects holders organised by the Institute of Cooperative Management, Lamphelpat concluded today. The training programme was attended by around 30 members.

Speaking at the function, Director, Department of Agriculture, S Gunija Devi said, “The provision of financial assistance to the beneficiaries from banks is availed but there are always some delays in providing financial assistance.”

The beneficiaries should work hard in bringing up good products by getting loans from the banks and the beneficiaries also should not forget to pay the loan back, she added.

Director, Institute of Cooperative Management, Dr Kh Somorendro Singh said that various projects can be availed of through the institute for the development of the people.

However, even if various projects are available since very few people are interested in taking advantage of the projects, he said, adding that they were not able to grab those projects sanctioned for the needy people.

Nationalised banks provide loans of 44 percent to the North East region for these kinds of projects whereas it’s 33 percent for other states, he said.

Training coordinator, ACABC Centre Cell, ICM, K Joychandra Singh said that in the country there are altogether 19 ICMs and among them the ICM located at the state is in the first position.

He further said that for the improvement of the institution there is a need to take care of the institution by the state government.
