Scheme for clearing outstanding power dues announced

IMPHAL, May 14: With the main objective to improve the overall collection of revenue, the State government has given approval to the incentive scheme for liquidation of full outstanding dues and waiving 75 percent of surcharge amount.

A press statement of the general manager, commercial-I said the scheme will be for clearing the arrear dues of the defaulting consumers by liquidating their arrears on a one-time basis for the outstanding amount and is made applicable to the public consumers (Domestic, Commercial, Industries, Bulk Consumers, etc) only and not to the State/Central Government Offices/Semi Government establishment, Banks, Military/Paramilitary, Public sector undertaking/Autonomous District councils.

The window period for implementation of the scheme will be from May 1 to July 31.

Furthermore, the reference for availing the scheme shall be based on the outstanding arrears as on April 30, the consumers intending to avail the scheme shall have to make one time clearance/liquidation of full principal amount as on the last billing cycle to get 75% incentive on the total accumulated surcharge before implementation of the scheme, it said.

The public consumers are appealed to avail the scheme during the period of May 1 to July 31 after which stringent steps to collect the arrear due shall be initiated by MSPDCL said the General Manager, Commercial-I, Manipur State Power Distribution Company Limited.
