JIRIBAM, May 11: The only Suspension Bridge connecting Babukhal Village in Jiribam sub-division with the other side of the Jiri River has been washed away severely affecting the villagers.

The village is at a distance of about five kms from Muktokkhong which is around 10 km east of Jiribam sub division along the NH 37.

A public meeting was conveyed today which decided to apprise the addl DC Jiribam of the villagers plight on Monday.

The meeting was organised by the Nongpok Chingkhei Development Committee.

The recent bout of storms with heavy downpour had not only broken the bridge but has also uprooted several homes in the village.

The lone suspension bridge connecting the village with the other side of the river was swept away by the fast rising water level of the Jiri River.
