Training on “’Search and Rescue Operation; conducted

IMPHAL, May 19: A five days training programme on ‘Search and Rescue Operation’ for the personnel of Imphal West District Police was inaugurated today at 2nd Bn Manipur Rifles Cinema Hall.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony as chief guest of the principal secretary disaster management, Dr Sohal Aktar while noting police as the first government machinery to response to any disaster, said the training programme will facilitate the police personnel with right knowledge to render their service efficiently.

Inspector General of Police (Ops), S Manglemjao said that the police personnel are working round the clock and moreover the police personnel render help in various activities.

Pointing out that the state is lying in seismic zone, organising such training programme is a must, he asserted.

S Manglemjao further maintained that it would be a life major saver if proper knowledge is acquired before occurrence of any major disaster.

DIG Armed Police-1, GB Sharma said the disaster may occurred any time whether it may be manmade or natural.

The main function for the police is to protect and detection of crime, but when disaster strike there will be none other than police to give the first response for the help of the people, he stated.

Addressing the keynote Md Ayub Khan mentioned that the disaster management has been held in various level such as school, college and public level.
