Two co-accused in Kendriya Vidyalaya Lamphel arson denied bail

IMPHAL, May 15: Two co-accused in the burning down of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan Lamphel during the intervening night of May 7 and 8 were produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal west Court and remanded to the Judicial Custody till May 28.

Meanwhile, the other remaining four accused who are said to be under age have been sent to the Juvenile Home Takyelpat.

The two co-accused identified as Tokhalan Jow, 29, son of Hengjachin of Gangte veng Churachanpur at present Lamphel ICAR quarter and Kailong Sanglien Gangte, 23, son of Bailong Gangte of Churachanpur Changlion at present Lamphel Quarter number 13 type-II were today produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal west from the custody of Lamphel Police station regarding the case under FIR no. 97(5) 2014 Lamphel Police station under section 436,427 IPC R/W 456/34 IPC and 4PD, DT Act.

While appearing before the court, the defence counsel of the two co-accused pleaded for bail but their plea was turned down.

All the six accused in the case including the 4 underage youth who were expelled from the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan Lamphel Pat were in police custody for seven days following their arrest on 9 May. The minors were sent to the Juvenile Home Takyelpat this afternoon.

It may be mentioned that all the six accused in the case was arrested by a police team one day after the fire incident which resulted in 80 percent of school building being burned down during the intervening night of May 7-8.
