Wishes pour in for Imphal Times editor

IMPHAL, May 27: Various ministers, MLAs and members of the state BJP visited the Shija Hospital and Research Institute to enquire about the health of the critically injured editor Khumukcham Rinku of the Imphal Times, on Tuesday.

Rinku fell down from his building on May 25 evening. He was rushed to the hospital the same evening in a critical condition. However, it is learned from family sources that his condition has been slightly improved though he is still in the ICU.

The visitors whished Rinku a speedy recovery. Many of them offered monetary assistance so as to enable him to meet the hospital expanses.

MLA Kh Joykishan of Thangmeiband AC offered Rs 5000; speaker Th Lokeshore contributed Rs 50000; MLA Nongthombam Biren of Heingang AC contributed Rs 10000; MLA K Ranjit Singh of Sugnu AC contributed Rs 10000; BJP, Manipur Unit contributed Rs 5000; News Editor of AIR, Imphal Aribam Ibomcha Sharma contributed Rs 5000; Inspector Anand, OC CDO, Thoubal contributed Rs 3000.

All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union, representing the media fraternity contributed Rs 26000.

Meanwhile, AMWJU in a press release has also wished for the speedy recovery of Rinku Khumukcham.

The release further expressed gratitude to the Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Th Lokeshwar Singh, Agriculture minister Md Nasir, parliamentary secretary Md Amin Shah, MLA K Ranjit Singh, MLA N Biren Singh for their kind visit and financial help to Rinku.

Minister Social Welfare Ak Mirabai provided Rs 15,000, minister Md Nasir through the Alhaj Maulana Abdul Jallal Memorial Charitable Trust provided Rs 50,000, Md Amin Shah provided Rs 10,000, MLA K Ranjit Singh Rs 10,000, MLA N Biren Singh Rs 10,000 for the editor’s treatment.

Others who also contributed include, HMNE Technical Mission director Kh Ratan Singh Rs 5000, CADA addl chief engineer K Manoranjan Singh Rs 5000 through AMWJU.

AMWJU has also expressed gratitude to Dr Palin, MD of the Shija hospital and his staff for their service and showing utmost care to Rinku.

AMWJU requested all to extend help and support for Rinku, it said.

AMWJU also expressed pleasure on the state media persons contributing eight bottles of blood, it said.

The Bharatiya Janata Party Yuva Morcha has extended financial assistance to the editor of Imphal Times Ringku Khumukcham who is undergoing treatment at Shija Hospital for the last two days.

The BJP’s Yuva Morcha president O Malesh and other BJP officials went to Shija Hospital to extend financial help for the treatment of Khumukcham Ringku who accidentally fell down from his own building on late Sunday night.

Malesh told the media that after receiving the news that a prominent member of the media fraternity has received critical injuries, they have come to inquire about the condition of Ringku.

“As per the information from his family, he has recovered a little from his previous condition and his health has improved too. We offer our pain and sorrow to his family about the incident,” he said, adding that if needed volunteers of the Yuva Morcha are willing to give any kind of support for his speedy recovery.
