World War II Museum Opened to Public in Manipur

IMPHAL, May 9: The World War 2 Memorial Foundation (WW2 MF) has open its museum for public display with a simple function held today at its office located at Phaipijang near Pallel in Chandel District.

Vice-chairman of All India Christian Council, Ann Haokip, IFS opened the museum by cutting the ribbon and inspected the war related relics which were collected and displayed by the foundation as a part of preserving the world known history.

While speaking at the function, Ann Haokip, the Indian Foreign Service cadre who is presently undergoing training expressed her gratitude for being invited to open the museum.

“And it is indeed a very good initiative that the foundation is taking,” she added.

Further, she also assured the members to extend possible assistance and wish the foundation a great success in their future endeavours.

Rt rev Paothang Haokip, vice chairman All Indian Christian Council while interacting with the foundation members said that it is the historic moment for him to be able to take part in the opening program of the World War II Museum set up by the foundation, which reminds me of many stories of the world war, I have heard as a child.

He also said that it is very significant to open the museum in and around Pallel as Pallel was a strategic and very significant place during the World War II.

The World War 2 Memorial Foundation is a registered body formed by like minded hobbyists with an objective to preserve the historic sites and relics of WWII as well as to promote peace by creating awareness of the effects of war.

And since its inception during the last few months, the foundation members explored and excavated the some sites where heavy encounter took place between the Allied forces and the Japanese Army of the Axis forces including the Indian National Army during World War 2. And with the objective of attracting tourist in the state, the foundaton members also surveyed the WW II related site to set up tourist spots.
