Dead bodies recovered, IFCD employee killed in road mishap

IMPHAL, June 23: The dead body of an unidentified woman was found lying in a vacant area on the backside of the Phija Primary School at Hatta on Tuesday morning around 7.30 am.

According to the locals of Hatta, they informed the police about the presence of the dead body of an unidentified woman on the back side of the Phija Primary School as soon they came to know about it.

Later, a police team arrived at the spot and picked up the dead body after examining the spot and recovered a wallet containing an adhar card, voter ID card and two ATM cards.

The dead has been deposited to the mortuary of the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences for identification and post mortem.

The deceased woman had a fair complexion, looked around 55 years of age, was found wearing a green Phanek and white shirt, her left ear was cut and both her earrings were missing. Police have registered a case regarding the incident.

A 55-year-old Ricksaw Puller from Kiyamgei Maning Leikai who went missing on Sunday evening was found dead on Monday morning at Leishang Hiden.

The dead body was found in a water pond at Kiyamgei Pal Ahanbi by the local passersby.

Later, the dead body was pulled up from the water pond by police personnel. The dead body has been identified as that of Keisham Rame, 55, son of late Sajou of Kiyamgei Maning Leikai.

The deceased reportedly went missing on Sunday evening according to her family members.

A 54-year-old man riding a Honda Activa was knocked down to death by an Assam Riffles recovery van at Keishampat Junction on Monday.

The incident occurred around 9.30 am when the deceased identified as Kangabam Jayentakumar, son of late Babaton of Haobam Marak Chingkham Leirak, an UDC at IFCD office, Khoyathong was knocked down by the recovered vehicle of 30 Assam Riffles bearing registration number TR01X-1685 while en route to IFCD office in his Honda Activa bearing the registration number MN-1M-1538.

Soon after the incident, Jayenta was rushed to the RIMS hospital but succumbed to injuries before reaching the hospital.

The dead body has been claimed by the family members after a post mortem conducted at the RIMS morgue. Police have registered a case against the incident.
