Free Heart Mega Health check-up organised at Chongtham Leikai

IMPHAL, May 31: A Free Heart Mega Health check-up camp was jointly organised by Fortis Hospital, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi and Iboyaima Hospital & Research Centre, Singjamei Mathak Chongtham Leikai held at Iboyaima Hospital & Research Centre.
People of South East Asia including in our state are prone to heart diseases. Such diseases are increasing rapidly for those above the age of 30 due to the lack of exercise, eating habits and change in life styles.

This was stated by executive director and dean of Fortis Hospital Vasant Kunj, Padma Shir Dr (Prof) Upendra Kaul, during an awareness programme to the patient and participants as a part of the Free Heart Mega Health camp.

He elaborated that most of the people coming for treatment at the hospital are having high blood pressure.

“The main causes are consumption of tobacco, alcohol which raises the chances of heart attacks and the main cause of heart attack is smoking. Moreover, smoking reduces 11 minutes of one’s life span per stick of cigarette,” he said.

He continued that the aim of conducting the camp is to educate the public through awareness and also to spread awareness about the facilities available in the hospital.

Head of the Sales and Marketing of North East Region, Ranjiv Bhandhari , said that due to change in life styles of people, various kinds of diseases have occurred.

For the prevention of such diseases, we should take care of ourselves with the aim to get fit and have regular checkups, he said, adding that more than 150 patients have visited for the treatment during the camp.
