JAC sets June 30 deadline in Itombi Begum’s murder case

IMPHAL, June 24: The identity of the woman who was found murdered near Pheija Primary School has been established. She is identified as one Itombi Begum,55, wife of Md Zamaluddin of Lillong Chaobok Mairenkhul Awangching. She had left home on June 22 for a medical condition to be diagnosed by Dr Sanatombi at Hatta Golapati area.

A JAC has been formed today regarding the murder and held a public meeting at the residence of Lillong ex-chairperson, Md Ashad Ali. The committee appeals the police department to take up speedy investigation regarding the brutal murder of Itombi and has set a deadline of July 30. A release by the JAC mentioned that agitations will follow if the murder incident remains unsolved till then.

It condemned the heinous crime perpetrated on the helpless woman and takes the matter with utmost seriousness. Itombi Begum was found with her earlobes torn in an attempt to take her earrings, her body was found yesterday near the mentioned place.
