The demonstrators also submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister of Manipur this morning.

Out of nowhere the protestors comprising of students and research scholars converged near the Nupilal memorial complex and proceeded towards the Chief Minister’s bungalow bearing banners and placards.

However, police intervened and stopped the demonstrators from further proceeding a few meters away from the complex.

Later, four representatives were allowed to enter the bungalow and submit the memorandum around 11.30 am.

While speaking to the media persons, the general secretary of LISSAM pointed out that in 2011 the Ministry of Home Resource Development (HRD) approved a proposal of the Government of Manipur for recruitment of librarian cum office assistants.

The proposal was part of the requirement for appointment of staffs and teacher for upgradation of Junior High School to High School.

However, contrary to the approved proposal, the Education department set in motion the process for appointment of office assistant post only excluding the librarian post, said the general secretary.

Subsequently, the then principal secretary (Education) Dr J Sureshbabu issued an appointment notification on March 4, 2014, he said.

Decrying exclusion of librarian post, LISAM has been urging the authority concerned cancelled the order (dated March 4) and released new order adhering to the original approval given HRD by June 10 failing which it warn to intensify its agitations, he said.
