MGNREGS Ombudsman established

IMPHAL, June 17: The Office of the Ombudsman (MGNREGS), Imphal East district has informed to all job card holders of Imphal east district including Jiribam sub-division under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guaranteed Act, 2005 that the Office of the Ombudsman (MGNREGS), Imphal East district has been established at the New DADR Office near BSNL Tower, Porompat and started functioning from June 2.

The job card holders who has any grievances against the MGNREGA Authority may submit their written complaints on a plain paper mentioning the names and designation of the MGNREGA functionaries against whom the complaint is filed along with necessary supporting documents/proof/evidence for direct redressal of their grievance from 10 am to 3 pm except during Sundays and holidays.

According to the Instructions on Ombudsman (MGNREGS) issued by the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, the grounds of complaints are Gram Sabha meetings and their record keeping, registration of households and issue of job cards, custody of job cards, demand for work, issue of dated acknowledgement receipt against application for employment, payment of wages, unemployment allowance, compensation for delayed wage payment, discrimination on the basis of gender, worksite facilities, measurement of work, quality of work, use of labour displacing of machines, engagement of contract, operation of account in the bank or post office, registration and disposal of complaint, verification of muster roll, inspection of documents, use of fund, release of fund, any fraudulent activity brought out by social audit, maintenance of record and deprivation of any entitlement assured in the Act/Schedules said the OMBUDSMAN (MGNREGS) in a press release.
