Night super drivers demanded safe release of Ingobi

IMPHAL, June 19: The All Manipur Night Super Drivers Welfare Association Manipur today staged a sit in protest at North AOC Guwahati and Dimapur booking counter demanding the safe release of Thokchomg Ingobi, night super driver who was abducted by militant suspects from Assam.

The sit in demonstration is a part of the steering down protest of the transporters which commenced from today.

As a result of the protest, all inter-state transport vehicles suspended their service from today.

Thokchom Ingobi 45 of Khongjom Mamang Leikai, driver of Zet travel was allegedly abducted during the intervening night of June 13 and 14 from a hotel at Jakhlabanda by suspected KCP MC (Langamba Khuman).

Speaking to the media during the protest, the transporters appealed for the safe release of the abducted driver besides urging the State government to provide proper security measures for the safety of the night super bus drivers.

He further disclosed that prior to the incident some miscreants identifying themselves as KCP MC (Langamba Khuman) had called the booking counter and demanded a sum of Rs 20 thousand from each bus in service as their annual tax.
