Rebel lays down arm

IMPHAL, June 2: Self-styled second lieutenant of proscribed outfit Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) today laid down his weapons before Dr N C Asthana inspector general Central Reserved Police Force Manipur and Nagaland during a simple home coming ceremony held today at the Group Centre CRPF Langjing.

The home coming ceremony was also attended by KT Vaiphei inspector general (intelligence), Clay Khongsai inspector general (Law and Order -I) and IK Muivah DIG representing the state police and other high level officer of CRPF.

The self-styled second lieutenant who laid down one .32 Pistol with two live rounds and magazine and one hand grenade along with a detonator has been identified as Liotongbam Indrajit Meetei alias Suraj, 28, son of (L) Singabi of Lakhinagar part 1 Golaghat district , Assam.

Indrajeet had joined the outfit in the year 2003 and was in the Myanmar camp of the outfit from 2004 till 2011.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr NC Asthana said they warmly welcome the youth who has return to the mainstream.

He said the youth will be handed over to the police concerned to take up the proper course of action for his rehabilitation.
