State Health Society, Mission Director inspects CHC, Chakpikarong

IMPHAL, May 9: State Mission Director, State Health Society, Dr Okram Ibomcha Singh today visited the Community Health Centre, Chakpi Karong sub division, Chandel district on an inspection tour.

He was accompanied by chief medical officer, Chandel Bir Chandra and other officials.

Manipur has 16 Community Health Centres, 85 Public Health Centres and 421 Public Health Sub-Centres, he told the accompanying media.

Today’s inspection it to check the necessitated requirements of the hospital, he said.

Continuing his brief, he said Manipur has the lowest Infant Mortality Rates in the country, and the Health department receives an amount of Rs 350 crore (approx.) annually to sustain this record.

The department is trying its best to maintain the rate and to construct more health centres soon, he said.

He said, if more health centres are opened, the number of delivery cases in hospitals will increase and eventually, the traditional birth attendants practicing at home can be stopped.

Dr Okram Ibomcha also assured that the Ultra Sound, X-Ray, Radiant Warmer, Generator, Phototherapy, solar fridge to store vaccines machines and facilities will arrived within a week at the CHC.

He also assured to look into all the needed requirements of the CHC at the earliest.

Dr L H Konihiring, CMO said that the director, Dr Okram Ibomcha has taken up a very encouraging step by upgrading for the first time 24/7 service in CHC.

He further said that though the infrastructure is not good, the director have seen and taken up initiatives, implemented equipments which will arrive within a week.

He also assured to extend his help within his capacity.

NL Angkhum, chief of Chakpi Karong said that he is really grateful towards the director for understanding the needs of the people and hoped he will continue to keep up the good work.

He further appealed to the authorities concerned to renovate the infrastructure so that more patients can be accommodated.

Director Dr Okram Ibomcha later visited the Komla Thabi Public Health Centre, Chandel district too and others.
