TDF joins demand to rescue of abducted truck drivers

IMPHAL, June 3: The Transporters and Drivers Forum, Manipur has also condemned the reported abduction of four truckers allegedly by suspected militants for a demand of Rs 30 lakh.

The Manipur Road Transport Drivers’ and Motor Workers Union had threatened to stop plying vehicles along the national highways in case the authorities concerned fail to rescue the abducted truckers.

It has been reported that the four truckers were abducted near the SB Oil Pump at Ambrajan under Bokajan police station in Karbi Anglong, Assam on May 27.

Meanwhile, the Transporters & Drivers Forum, Manipur has also submitted similar memorandums to the Director General of Police, Manipur and Assam to rescue the truckers.

In case the concerned authorities fail to help the abducted truckers at the earliest, the forum may take democratic agitations, said a press release of the forum signed by its secretary M Bimol Singh.
