IMPHAL, June 26: The 38 foundation day of all Manipur Women Social Reformation and Development Samaj was celebrated today at the Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace compound.
The presidium members of the function were Keisham Taruni Leima, president, AMSRDS, Hidangmayum Brojesvari, Advisor, AMSRDS, K H Indu, Advisor, AMSRDS, Fajoubam Sakhi Leima, president, Apunba Manipur Kanba Ema Lup, (AMKIL), Akoijam Danki leima, president, Memnu Ereikhombi (MIKHOL), Longjam Memchoubi, president, Poirei Lemrei Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur, Yumnam Leirik Leima, president, Kangleipak Lamjing Apunba Meira Lup, (Kangla Mei), Maibam Purnimasi Leima, president, Ching Tam United Women Association (CHITUWA), Kakomlunglu Kamei, president, Kabui Mothers Association (KAMA) Rose Mangshi Haokip, president, Kuki Women Union, Manipur (KWU), Aribam Chitra Begum, president United Manipuri Muslim women Development Organisation, Soibam Momon Leima, president All Manipur Tammi Chingmi apunba Nupi Lup (Tammi Chingmi).
Apart from offering floral tributes to the mothers who were the members of the Nupi Samaj, a photo exhibition was also held and a souvenir for Chaobi, Momon and Indumani was released during the function for the brave women who sacrificed their lives for the welfare of the women.
While speaking at the function, Former Editor of Freedom,R K Ranendrajit said that women of Manipur have made sacrifices in their lives for the welfare of society and have a deep concern and love for their people.
He asserted that in today’s scenario it is women who are playing an important role in safeguarding, protecting and preserving the society and leading the right way to the youths.
Dr Y Manikhuman said that it was the Meira Paibis who started the movement against the use of drugs and alcoholism in the society.
He further said that we have good mothers in our society today but need the support from men and a mutual understanding and unity.
