Imphal – Moreh highway bandh suspended

THOUBAL, July 27: The indefinite bandh along the Imphal – Moreh section of the National Highway 2 called by civil organizations of Aimol Tribe has been called off temporarily from 6.30 p.m. today.

While speaking to the media, Sumleai Chunglalthang, general secretary of Aimol Students’ Union Manipur (ASUM) said that the indefinite bandh imposed in protest against the indifferent attitude of the State government was suspended temporarily from 6.00 p.m. today.

He further said that the decision to suspend the indefinite bandh was taken after considering the suffering of the people due to the indefinite bandh.

However, we will continue with a series of intense agitations in the near future if the State government continue to ignore the demand and not fulfill it at the earliest, he added.

He further expressed gratitude to all individuals and organizations particularly the Student League Manipur and OMIPM for extending cooperation during the indefinite bandh.
